The Re-Emergence of the Wu
I think it's safe to say that in the last few years, the Wu-Tang Clan has been kept alive pretty much single handedly by Ghostface, at least as far as relevancy in today's Hip Hop game is concerned. With clan members branching out and creating their own crews, labels and bringing their own proteges up, to jumping to the big screen either acting or scoring the music. It's seemed like the Wu brand and sound has been slowly disappearing especially with the last Clan effort "8 Diagrams". But now it seems like Ghost may no longer be holding the beacon of light for the clan alone. After years of hearing about Raekwon working on "Only Built For Cuban Links 2" a follow up to the classic "Purple Tape" of 1995, on edge anticipation turned to doubt that questioned whether not only could he put out a body of work that could live up to a classic, but with continuous push backs, would it ever see the light of day.
Those questions may have been answered. On September 8th, OBCL2 will be released and with 2 videos (New Wu & House of Flying Daggers) and another 2 songs leaked (10 Bricks & Catalina) , it looks like the Chef has indeed been cooking up some marvelous shit. Rae pulled out the old winning recipe that Wu fans have been waiting to hear again, from the neck snapping nod factor, to the kung fu flick sampled intros, Raekwon is poised to show that Wu-Tang is indeed FOREVER.

Now That's Some Artistic Shit!!!!
So I'm pretty much settled in my new apartment, but as I was sitting in my living room one night I was irritated at the fact that my walls are so... plain, naked, bare etc... so I start thinking about ideas on how to fix this dilemma of mine. Should I paint the walls, if so what color... after going in circles looking at color samples I switch to think about art to hang on the walls instead and maybe come back to the colors later. So I get online and start searching for ideas... something that reflects me... even though I'm not as active as I used to be in it, music is still a big part of my life, so I start to narrow it down... and I come across this artist David Garibladi, his work is exactly what I'm looking for. He had so many amazing pieces that I ended up picking 10 of various sizes.
Upon further research, he is also an amazing performance artist who paints portraits of famous and historical figures in front of live audiences ( which he calls Rhythm & Hue ) most in under 10 minutes. I found a bunch of videos of him on Youtube and here are a few of my favs.

He told me that he and his ex(his sons' mother) are thinking about getting back together. While he stepped away to pay for his purchase, I asked his son, "Are you happy that your mom and dad are getting back together?", he looked at me and said, "No, I want my dad to be with a good woman". For the first time in my life I was speechless. I just stood there with my mouth wide open. I couldnt believe what I heard him say and if I thought for a minute that I heard him wrong, there was a customer standing near us with the same look on her face.

Looking Back and Looking Foward
So it's the 1st day of the new year, 2009. Looking back on 2008, its kind of a blur. It seems to have gone by pretty fast. I guess depending how u look at it, it could be a good thing, or a bad thing. For me, 2008 was about letting go of the old, and embracing the new. Anyone who's known me for a while knows how much music has been apart of my life. My main hobby was making beats, or anything involved with music. Even though I saw it coming for a while, 2008 marked the time I officially lost my love of making music. I sold some equipment and boxed up and stored away the rest, just incase that good old feeling came back. Never got the feeling back, but I'm ok with that. My interest have grown and expanded to photography, video editing, politics, got back into reading heavy,took a stab at writing, and pretty much getting my mind & body to a better state. I hit the gym started to watch what I ate and was able to go from 270 lbs
to 220 lbs
now the months of November & December weren't kind to me at all lol and I fell victim to the holidays, but I'm ready to get back to work and hopefully lose another 20-25 lbs. All I can do is put the work in and hope for the best, let the chips fall where the may. Overall 2008 was a good year for me, lets just hope 2009 is just as kind to me
